At least five people have lost their lives as a powerful shear line battered the Mimaropa region, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
Four of the victims were from Palawan. In Puerto Princesa City, three passengers tragically drowned when their van was swept away by raging floodwaters in Barangay Inagawan. Another individual also lost their life to drowning in Barangay Bancao-Bancao.
In Oriental Mindoro, a fifth fatality was reported in San Andres, Naujan, also due to drowning.
Widespread Impact and Evacuations
Palawan remains the only province in the region with recorded evacuations, with 546 individuals seeking shelter. However, the severe weather has affected nearly 124,000 people across Mimaropa.
