In recent developments from Lanao del Sur, military forces engaged in a series of encounters with the New People’s Army (NPA), resulting in the death of a rebel and the surrender of another. The encounters occurred in Barangay Danara Ingod, located in Amai Manabilang town, on August 24, 2025. Brigadier General Billy Dela Rosa, the commander of the 103rd Infantry Brigade, reported that troops from the 16th Scout Ranger Company confronted members of the NPA’s sub-regional committee 5 as part of ongoing operations to combat insurgency in the area.
Major General Yegor Rey Barroquillo Jr., the commander of the 1st Army Division and Joint Task Force Zampelan, praised the military personnel and local partnerships for their commitment to neutralizing the rebel groups operating in Lanao del Sur. He assured that the 1st Infantry Division will continue to provide support in pursuing any remaining communist factions within the region.
