The Land Transportation Office (LTO) Region 7 is under scrutiny after a viral video showed officers forcefully arresting a farmer in Panglao, Bohol. Bohol Governor Erico Aristotle Aumentado said he has informed LTO-7 Director Glenn Galario about the incident for appropriate action. Meanwhile, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan has summoned the task force involved. The video, recorded on February 28, 2025, in Barangay Tawala, Panglao, shows LTO-7 officers restraining Bert Velasco, the brother of former Panglao Vice Mayor Brian Velasco.
Reports indicate that Bert was carrying a knife when stopped by LTO officers. In the footage, he can be heard repeatedly saying, ‘Farmers ko, sir,’ as officers subdued him. LTO-7 Regional Director Glen Galario issued a statement addressing the controversy. ‘LTO 7 regrets the distressing nature of the incident and apologizes for any concern it may have caused to the public,’ he said. Galario confirmed that an investigation is underway. ‘LTO 7 takes any allegations of improper conduct seriously. Any officer found to have acted outside of protocol will be held accountable,’ he added. Brian Velasco has condemned the officers’ alleged excessive force and is calling for a thorough investigation. As of now, Bert Velasco remains in police custody while authorities continue documenting the case.
